The game of Poker involves betting rounds in which all but one player may fold. When a player has the highest-ranking hand, they are deemed the winner of the pot and collect the entire pot. In most variations of the game, there are three possible hands. The first is the lowest hand; this is a seven-card combination with at least one pair of aces. Other hands may contain a pair of aces or a low pair of cards. In some games, the lowest hand is an ace; in this case, the highest hand is a pair of aces. In a later round, players may make a second bet if they think they have the best hand.
Another option is to play a game with four or five players. While a game of Poker can be played with any number of players, six or eight is ideal. The pot is the sum of bets placed by all players in a particular deal. A player may win the pot by having the best poker hand or by making the highest bet in a hand without being called. This is called a “raise.”
